A look ahead to 2022 and beyond, as the  Pittsburgh Pirates get into the month of August.

In this episode of Rum Bunter Radio, the crew is back to discuss the trade deadline return the Pittsburgh Pirates received this year, the 2022 schedule release, and what’s to come the rest of the way this August.

Every year there are buyers and sellers at the deadline. For some teams, it can be hard to decipher what to do. For the Pittsburgh Pirates this season it was a no-brainer: Sell anything and everything you can! The trio gives timelines on the players that aren’t already up in Pittsburgh and give projections for what their careers could look like.

As the episode rolls forward you’ll hear a breakdown of the Pirates 2022 schedule after it dropped earlier in the week.

The Pirates open up at home against the Cardinals after playing on the road to start the year in each of the last five seasons. They will close the year against the divisional foe in St. Louis, with a full slate against the American League East sandwiched in the middle.

News broke this week that outfielder Anthony Alford would be rejoining the big league club for a second chance with the Pirates this season. For Erik Gonzales, it meant the road. Pittsburgh fans were a bit caught off guard by these moves but ultimately not upset after Anthony’s hot return. With this move utility man, Phillip Evans was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis, after his recent struggles.

To close out the show the guys talk about the furthering of this organization through Ben Cherington’s hire, and where the Pirates find themselves in their rebuild. But also, to give some of these newcomers a chance.  Players like Bryse Wilson and Michael Chavis finally have a chance to find consistency in Pittsburgh.
