Could the Pittsburgh Pirates secure the number one overall pick two years in a row?

That question has caught some traction over the past week as fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Many are beginning to wonder if the team could end up with the worse record. This is especially true after a rough August.

The one thing we do know: the future is very bright! The trio opens this week’s episode with a conversation about the number one overall pick in this year’s draft, Henry Davis. After a quick promotion to High-A Greensboro, Davis made an instant impact with his second pro home run. Will he be the catcher of the future, or find another role to open up that slot for another talented youngster?

Pittsburgh’s favorite Steven Brault makes his return with the Pirates, and in three starts has done nothing but impress. The crew discusses his scoreless performance in Los Angeles and what they expect for Brault this offseason. As the Pirates continue this rebuild, singing Steven could be a solid trade chip in December or the months surrounding.

John Nogowski, aka “The Big Nogowski”, has become a hero for Pirates’ fans over the past few months, but all in all, we knew his time with the big league club would be limited. After the Twitter antics, stellar performances, and frustrations of Marcus Stroman, the Pirates had to designate John for assignment in order to provide roster space for a new signee, Yoshi Sutsugo.

Sutsugo, now with his third team of the season, will provide depth in both the infield and outfield and will take on that super-utility role immediately.

To close out the show the guys talk about this past week’s Field of Dreams game, and the direction Major League Baseball is headed with these types of events.

Batten down the hatches, clear the decks, episode 64 of Rum Bunter Radio is here!
