After being swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers the Pittsburgh Pirates are now 8-29 since the All-Star Break and they have fallen to 42-79 on the season

Entering the 2021 season expectations were low for the Pittsburgh Pirates. They were expected to be one of the worst teams in baseball. Even many in the Pirate front office did not have high expectations with the team entrenched in a rebuild.

Before the season started the over/under win total for the Pittsburgh Pirates was 58.5. While this seemed like an easy number to clear, it is no guarantee that the Pirates are going to clear that number.

After being swept in their three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers the Pittsburgh Pirates now own a 42-79 record this season. With 41 games left to play, this puts the Pirates on pace to win 56 games.

A 56-106 record would be one of the worst teams in the long, storied history of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Mercifully, we are closing in on the final month of the 2021 MLB season. But until then we will continue to stick it out with the Pirates and break things down for everyone. Today, that means dissecting the three-game series sweep the Pirates just suffered at the hands of the Dodgers.
