With the 2021 season winding down to a close two relievers are finishing the season strong for the Pittsburgh Pirates

As the final month of the 2021 season is winding to close the Pittsburgh Pirates own a 50-89 record. This is the second worst record in the National League and the fourth worst record in all of Major League Baseball.

Even though the Pittsburgh Pirates were expected to be among the worst teams in baseball this season, the 2021 season has been worse than expected. This has created a September that will not have much in the way of expectations or things to watch for with Pirate fans. That said, there are still a few things to watch for.

With the season coming to a close what the Pittsburgh Pirates are watching for most down the stretch are how players who could play a key role in 2022 and beyond perform. On this note, over the course of the last month a pair of young relievers have been pitching well for the Pirates and appear to be finishing the season strong.
