The Pittsburgh Pirates big league roster may not be in action for some time. However, their prospects have arrived for Spring Training.
The lockout has been in place for about 3 months now and sides are slowly making progress on a new CBA. With that being said, there is really no prediction or end site for the current state of Major League Baseball. The lockout could end this week or next week, or in a month, no one really knows. So what’s in store for the Pittsburgh Pirates going forward?
Now it is unlikely that the Owner’s lockout of the players will last much longer. Time is money at this point, if they do not have an agreement by the end of this week then regular-season games could be eliminated. No owner or player wants to lose the money they could collect in those games.
On the other side of Baseball, things are different. Minor League players, who are not a part of MLB Players’ Association, will have a season. Last week, I wrote about this and sure enough, Spring Training has started for minor league players.
This is good news in a smaller capacity as at least some Baseball is starting up. There will be storylines and a little more coverage given to prospects at camp, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing for the Pittsburgh Pirates. After, a lot of the prospects are the players we have been told to keep an eye on as they could be a part of the big league team’s future.
So far players such as Cody Bolton, Quinn Priester, Bubba Chandler, Henry Davis, Nick Gonzales, and Anthony Solometo have made appearances with members of the media. Obviously, there are more players there, but there are definitely points of interest for Minor League camp.

Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Anthony Solometo sits down with Jason Mackey
Alex Stumpf always posts videos of action in Florida. It is great to see some clips of prospects getting in reps. The same can be said For Mackey who will be sitting down with different prospects over the next month or so.
Make sure if you have a Twitter you follow both Jason Mackey and Alex Stumpf. Both of them, along with other media members, are in Bradenton for the foreseeable future. They put in a lot of hard work and put out great stuff surrounding the Pittsburgh Pirates. To keep up with all things minor leagues continue to check back here for updates on the happenings in Bradenton.
