While these rules changes will not be found in the new between MLB and the MLBPA, they are still changes worth discussing and ones that would have a major impact on how the Pittsburgh Pirates and all of Major League Baseball play the game

With each passing day it finally appears that MLB owners and the MLBPA are taking steps toward reaching a new CBA. The end of the month has been identified as the day a new CBA must be reached in order to ensure spring training can last long enough for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the rest of baseball to be ready for Opening Day.

Due to this, talks have finally started to ramp up this week. It know appears that a new CBA could be in place by the end of the month which would allow teams to begin spring training with enough time for the regular season to still start on time.

In any sport with a new CBA will come new rules and rule changes. Right now the one major rule change that we know is coming for MLB is the implementation of the universal DH. While it was expected that the National League would add the DH as part of the new CBA it is still good to see it be official.

Now that a new CBA finally appears to potentially be on the horizon, let’s delve into discussing some outside of the box ideas. Now, yes, none of these rule changes will be included in the CBA, but they are rule changes that would be beneficial for the Pittsburgh Pirates and all of baseball.
