The Pittsburgh Pirates have many near MLB ready prospects, but also a handful of notable prospects under the age of 18 in their farm system

The Pittsburgh Pirates have potentially set themselves up for long-term, sustained success. The organization has a myriad of top prospects coming up next season. With the likes of Oneil Cruz, Roansy Contreras, Diego Castillo, Travis Swaggerty, Matt Fraizer, Carmen Mlodzinski, Ji-Hwan Bae, Jack Sowinski, and Canaan Smith-Njgiba all potentially seeing a month plus of playing time, the 2022 Pirates are genuinely an underrated team.

But the Pittsburgh Pirates won’t just show some talent in 2022. They’ve set themselves up that they could see a half dozen or more prospects make their debut and play an impactful number of games for the next 3-5 years. But the organization, at the very least, has attempted to give their extended long-term outlook a bright future.

Today, I want to take a look at their top 18-and-under prospects. Like with prospects this young, they’re still 4-5 more years from even making their debuts in the majors. But they’re still talented nonetheless and bring a high ceiling player to the organization.
