A rain out turned the opening series of the season for the Pittsburgh Pirates from a four-game series into a three-game set in St. Louis. Now let’s recap some of the takeaways from the series.

The first series of the 2022 season is now in the books for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Originally, the Bucs and Red Birds were set to play a four-game wrap around series at Busch Stadium. However, Mother Nature had other ideas leading to a rain out that now has the teams scheduled for a split double header in St. Louis on June 14th.

With the fourth game of the series postponed it cost the Pirates an opportunity to earn a series split. Now, they will head home with a 1-2 record as they prepare to host the Chicago Cubs for their home opener on Tuesday afternoon.

Now that the first series of the season is in the books Rum Bunter series recaps are back. Throughout the season we will attempt to recap each series the Pittsburgh Pirates play while looking for takeaways and key points from each series.

With the Bucs off to an 0-1 start in series played this season, let’s dive into what happened this past weekend in St. Louis.
