Pittsburgh Pirates: Strong Pitching and More Takeaways From Series Split

In their second series of the 2022 season the Pittsburgh Pirates split a four-game set at PNC Park against their divisional rival Chicago Cubs
After dropping their season-opening series in St. Louis against the Cardinals, the Pittsburgh Pirates were able to somewhat bounce back against the Chicago Cubs. Making their 2022 PNC Park debut the Pirates split a brief two-game series against the Cubbies.
After dropping the series opener, which was also the 2022 home opener for the Pittsburgh Pirates, by a score of 2-1 the Bucs found themselves in need of a victory on Wednesday afternoon to prevent being swept.
Pittsburgh got this victory by defeating the Cubs 6-2. This victory gave the team the series split they were seeking and improved their record to 2-3 on the season.
Next up for the Pittsburgh Pirates is a four-game series at PNC Park against the Washington Nationals. However, before we start to look ahead to the Nats let’s look back the series against the Cubs. It’s time to examine what could be taken away from the Pirates splitting their series against the Cubs.
