The Rum Bunter Radio crew is back to discuss the opening week of action for the Pittsburgh Pirates, new contracts and more!

In this episode of Rum Bunter Radio, The crew returns to break down the first week of the 2022 MLB season, and share their thoughts on other major headlines in the world of Pittsburgh Pirates baseball.

EXTEND HIM! If you saw us tweeting, hoping, screaming from the rooftops this very phrase then you understand Pirates’ fans urge to resign the switch hitting two way player.

Thankfully on Thursday it was announced the team would sign Bryan Reynolds to a two-year 13.5 million dollar contract to avoid arbitration.

While this isn’t the long term home real deal Buccos faithful wanted to see, it is progress and potential ground work for a longer contract in the future.

The crew shares their take on this deal and why this could lead to both good and bad down the line in Pittsburgh.

Reynolds was not the only Pirate to receive a long anticipated deal this past week, one could even argue that his news was overshadowed by the eight year 70 million dollar extension of star third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes.

This deal will keep Hayes under team control through 2030, while he will receive roughly 8.75 million per season.

The conversation zooms out to the gentlemen responsible for these two deals and what this means for the future of Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, and more importantly how they attempt to use the checkbook.

In the second half of this week’s episode the guys take a deep dive on week number one of the 2022 season and share their favorite moments to this point.

Marty and Nick give an inside look at Pirate Opening Day, and to close the show the trio previews the Pirates upcoming series in Chicago.
