Strong bullpen work and an offense that never gave up led the Pittsburgh Pirates to taking three of four from the Washington Nationals

Coming off a weekend that was a fun one for the Pittsburgh Pirates it is ok to smile, have fun and enjoy it. Even though the Pirates are expected to be among the worst teams in the National League this season the team is off to a strong start. Even though many Pirate fans will likely stick to pessimism, it is ok to sit back and enjoy the team’s strong start.

After taking three of four from the Washington Nationals at PNC Park, the Pittsburgh Pirates are now 5-4 overall on the season and 1-1-1 in series played. Not only is the team over .500 following a series victory, it was a series victory that was a fun and exciting one for the Bucs and their fans.

Outside of Friday night’s loss each game in this series was filled with exciting, hard fought games. When a team is expected to finish below .500 like the Pirates are, games like the ones that were played at PNC Park this weekend can be what helps make a season bearable.

As we do after every series the Pittsburgh Pirates play we will now dive into takeaways from them taking three of four from the Nationals. Because there are certainly plenty of positives to be taken out of this series.
