It was an interesting and far from easy series at Wrigley Field over the weekend, but the Pittsburgh Pirates took three of four from the Chicago Cubs

The Pittsburgh Pirates are coming off a four-game series at Wrigley Field for the ages. Despite being outscored in the series 29-12, the Pirates were able to take three of four from the Cubs in a series victory.

Saturday afternoon the Pirates took the field with a 2-0 series lead over the Cubs. Following a franchise worst 21-0 loss, the Pirates appeared to be dissolved and lost. To their credit they rallied to take the series on Sunday.

Sunday afternoon the Pittsburgh Pirates overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat the Cubs 4-3. With the win they improved to 8-8 on the season, 2-2-1 in series played, and 4-2 against the Cubs.

It is now time to dive into sky observations and takeaways for the Pirates from the series. Pittsburgh is off to a much better start to the season than anticipated and a lot of common themes have played a role in their strong start.
