Tuesday night’s action among Pittsburgh Pirates minor league affiliates nearly saw the second joint no-hitter of the young season

Earlier this season the top farm club of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Triple-A Indianapolis Indias, thew a combined no-hitter. Tuesday night the Indians nearly did it for the second time in this young season.

Osvaldo Bido started for the Indians. While he walked 5 batters, he struck out 4 in 3.2 hitless innings pitched. Cam Vieaux walked a batter and recorded a strikeout in 3 hitless innings pitched. Then it was EricHanhold’s turn as he walked a pair and struck out a pair in 1.1 hitless innings pitched.

In the 9th inning the Indians turned to Yerry De Los Santos. Looking to finish off the joint no-hitter De Los Santos struck out the first batter of the inning. However, he then allowed a base hit to end the no-hit bid. De Los Santos would then finish off the 9th inning, issuing a walk and picking up another strikeout along the way to finish off a 4-0 Indian victory.

Offensively, it was another huge game for Mason Martin. The slugging first baseman was 2-for-4 with a walk, his 4th triple of the season, his 8th double, he drove in a run, and scored a run. Martin now has a 1.102 OPS on the season.

Oneil Cruz hit his 3rd double of the season, while Rodolfo Castro and Cal Mitchell each picked up double number 5. Castro and Mitchell each drew a walk as well. Travis Swaggerty was 0-for-3 with a walk and a RBI, and catcher Taylor Davis drove in a pair.
