It’s time for the nightly recap of minor league action across the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system

One night after they nearly no-hit the Iowa Cubs, the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians were defeated by the Cubs 3-2. With the loss the Pittsburgh Pirates top minor league affiliate is now 10-9 on the season.

Local product Trey McGough pitched a 1-2-3 1st inning for the Indians. Veteran righty Jerad Eickoff followed by allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, a home runs, no walks, and 7 strikeouts in 4 innings pitched. While Cam Aldred and Matt Eckelman each pitched a scoreless inning, Brad Case took the loss allowing a run on 2 hits in his inning pitched.

Ji-Hwan Bae started at second base for the Indians and hit leadoff. He was 1-for-4 with a solo home run, his 1st home run of the season, at the top of their lineup. Mason Martin and Canaan Smith-Njigba were both 1-for-4, this included a double by Smith-Njigba.

The only other hit for Indy was a RBI single by catcher Jason Delay. Delay also drew a walk in the Indian loss.
