Another Sunday afternoon of baseball is in the books for the minor league affiliates of the Pittsburgh Pirates
Driven by pitching, the Indianapolis Indians picked up a 3-1 victory over the Iowa Cubs on Sunday afternoon. With the victory the top farm club of the Pittsburgh Pirates improved to 13-10 on the season.
Osvaldo Bido started for the Indians and allowed an unearned run on a hit, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched. With this outing he lowered his ERA on the season to 2.41 to go with 20 strikeouts in 18.1 innings pitched. However, he has also walked 14 batters.
Cam Vieaux followed Bido, striking out 4 batters and allowing just 1 hit in 3.1 scoreless innings pitched. Hunter Stratton pitched a scoreless inning. Yerry De Los Santos then continued to do his thing striking out all 3 batters he faced to close out the game. De Los Santos now has a 1.13 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 8.0 innings pitched this season. Likely sooner rather than later De Los Santos will be making an impact for the Pittsburgh Pirates out of the bullpen.
Offensively, the Indians did not do much. Ji-Hwan Bae started in center field and was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Travis Swaggerty was 1-for-4, Canaan Smith-Njigba was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, and Bligh Madris was 2-for-2 with a walk and his 3rd double of the season.
