Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects: Two Strong Starts, Big Night for AA Middle Infield

Another win for Low-A Bradenton

Low-A Bradenton defeated the Dunedin Blue Jays 5-4. With the victory the Marauders are now 12-8 on the season. Po-Yu Chen started for the Marauders and turned in a strong start. The 20-year-old righty allowed an unearned run on just 1 hit, while walking a batter and striking out 5 in 7 innings pitched.

Chen continues to fly under the radar as one of the more underrated pitching prospects the Pittsburgh Pirates have in their farm system. Chen now owns a 3.24 ERA in 16.2 innings pitched this season. He’s walked 9 batters, struck out 19 and has not allowed a home run.

Xavier Concepcion allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, a walk and a strikeout in 1 inning pitched. Yunior Thibo also pitched out of the Marauder bullpen. In 3 innings pitched he allowed a run on a pair of hits while striking out a batter.

Jase Bowen started in left field and was 0-for-2 with a walk and a RBI at the top of the Marauder lineup. First baseman Jacob Gonzalez was 2-for-4 and now has a 1.244 OPS on the season. Juan Jerez started at third base going 1-for-4 with a RBI and a pair of runs scored.

Typically a catcher, Jakob Goldfarb started as Bradenton’s designated hitter. Goldfarb was 2-for-2 with a walk and a RBI. On the season he now has a .967 OPS this season. Second baseman Mike Jarvis also drove in a run.
