Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects: Strong Start, Home Runs Carry High-A & More

High-A Greensboro improves to 11-13 on the season with a 13-6 victory

For the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers, right-handed pitcher Jared Jones turned in a strong start. Results wise Jones was off to a slow start this season, but Thursday with he turned in a strong start.

In 5.1 innings pitched for the Grasshoppers, Jones allowed 2 runs. Jone surrendered 3 hits, walked 3 batters, allowed a home run and struck out 6. This outing lowered his ERA on the season to 5.06, but more important it flashed his plus stuff.

Michell Miliano pitched in relief of Jones. Milano allowed 4 runs, 1 earned, on.1 hit, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts, and a home run in 2.1 innings pitched. Ricky DeVito would go on to pitch 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing a hit while striking out 3.

Shortstop Maikol Escotto was 2-for-4 with a run scored, his 5th home run and 3 RBI. Matt Gorski was 1-for-2 with a walk and a RBI, while catcher Henry Davis was 3-for-5 with his 5th home run of the season and 4 RBI.

Endy Rodriguez started at second base. Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with his 4th home run of the season and 2 RBI. Hudson Head hit his 2nd home run of the season, while Dariel Lopez hit his 3rd and Jack Herman his 2nd.
