Marauders pick up a hard fought victory
The Low-A Bradenton Marauders improved to 15-12 on the season with a 6-5 walk off victory against the Tampa Tarpons. Bradenton scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to take a 5-2 lead. After Tampa tied the game at 5 I the top of the 9th inning, the Marauders walked it off when Juan Jerez reached on an error.
Tsung-Che Cheng set the table all day long for the Marauder offense. The leadoff hitting shortstop was 2-for-4 with a walk and his 7th double of the season. Jerez was 1-for-3 with a walk, his 4th double and a RBI. Center fielder Jase Bowen was 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored, and designated hitter Jacob Gonzalez stayed hot by hitting his 11th double of the season.
Second baseman Mike Jarvis also had a big game for the Marauders. Jarvis was 2-for-2 and he drew a pair of walks. Jarvis scored a pair of runs, while also driving in a pair of runs in the Marauder victory.
Joelvis Del Rosario started on the mound for the Marauders and turned in a strong start. In 5 innings pitched Del Rosario allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, a home run, a walk and 6 strikeouts. This outing lowered his ERA to 5.03 on the season.
Sergio Umana was the first man up out of the Marauder bullpen behind Del Rosario. Umana pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief. He did not allow a hit, walked a batter and picked up a strikeout.
Johan Montero struggled for the Marauders. After pitching a scoreless 8th inning, he allowed 3 runs in he 9th inning. Overall, Montero allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, on 2 hits, a walk and 4 strikeouts in 2 innings pitched.
