Jack Suwinski continues to impress

Following a slow offensive start to his MLB career it appears that outfielder Jack Suwinski, who was a big piece in the Adam Frazier trade, has found his offensive groove with the Pittsburgh Pirates. That was evident in their series victory over the Dodgers.

Suwinski was 3-for-11 in the series with a walk. His 3 hits were his first 2 MLB home runs, as well as a double. The left-handed hitting Suwinski also drove in 3 runs in the series victory for the Pirates.

Suwinski’s home runs were vital ones for the Pirates. Monday night he launched a 2-run home run in the 8th inning with the Pirates leading 3-0. This home run made the score 5-0 and put the game on ice.

Wednesday afternoon’s blast gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead in the game. It was also the start of a 3-run rally for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the bottom of the 6th inning with the two teams tied at zero runs each.

Through is first 46 plate appearances Suwinski now has a .190 isolate slugging (ISO), 113 wRC+, just a 17.4% strikeout rate, and all of this has come with a batting average on balls in play (BAbip) of just .250. Throw in a +3 Defensive Runs Saved in right field and there is no reason for the Pirates to do anything other than to continue to play Suwinski every day.
