Curve suffer another loss

The Double-A Altoona Curve fell to 13-17 on the season with a 7-2 loss against the Somerset Patriots. Omar Cruz started for the Curve, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched. Despite the poor start, Cruz still owns a 3.67 ERA and has struck out 32 batters in 27 innings pitched.

Austin Roberts followed Cruz. Roberts allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on 2 hits and a strikeout in 1 innings pitched. Brad Case pitched the final 3 innings of the game, allowing a solo home run. He also walked 4 batters and struck a batter out. Case has pitched well this season posting a 1.80 ERA.

Center fielder Connor Scott was 1-for-2 with a walk. Second baseman Nick Gonzales was 1-for-4 with 3 strikeouts. Scott and Gonzales each committed an error as well. Gonzales now has a 38% strikeout rate on the season.

Leadoff man Jared Triolo was 1-for-4. Shortstop Liover Peguero and right fielder Matt Fraizer were each 1-for-4. Fraizer’s hit was a triple that drove in a run. First baseman Brendt Citta had a RBI as well.
