The Pittsburgh Pirates won a game on Sunday without a lot of offense.  Well, really with no real offense, technically, not even a hit.

By now you have probably heard or seen the anomaly that happened to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.  The Bucs took on the division-rival Reds for the final game of the series.  The Reds are one of the few teams that are projected to finish worse than the Pittsburgh Pirates this season.  So with that, there was no doubt going to be some bad baseball happening this weekend.

Well, no one expected what occurred at PNC Park on Sunday.  The Pittsburgh Pirates won against the Reds by a score of 1-0 without recording a hit.  This is the 6th time in Major League Baseball history and the first time since 2008.

Quite honestly, it is surprising that this has happened before, but it is not surprising the Pirates were a part of this.  The Pittsburgh Pirates always seem to be involved in these odd games like the year that Jeff Locke out-dueled and took Mad Bum deep to win the game.  Of course, who can forget the Will Craig debacle at first base last season? The internet loves reacting to Pittsburgh Pirates debacles, so it is nice to see the script change onto the Reds for once:

Love to see some jokes being made at the Reds expense:

Obviously, fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates were pumped about the win.  A team like the Pirates who are typically on the wrong end of a lot of games actually came out on top albeit they still were not hit.   A win is a win and this one is a historical one that will not be forgotten for many years to come.  Still, it was also a much-needed win against the Reds and hopefully will spark a little bit of a run for this team.
