It’s time to recap Thursday night’s action among the minor league teams of the Pittsburgh Pirates
The top affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians, were deafened by the St. Paul Saints on Thursday night. Following their 8-1 loss against the Saints, the Indians are now 23-21 on the season.
Osvaldo Bido started for Indy, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits, a walk, 2 home runs and 5 strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched. Zach Matson followed, allowing 2 more runs on 2 walks and 4 hits in 1.2 innings pitched.
At the plate Oneil Cruz continued to stay hot in the month of May going 2-for-4 with a run scored and his 10th stolen base of the season. Cruz now has an OPS over .800 in May. While Travis Swaggerty had also been hot in May, he went 0-for-4. Ji-Hwan Bae continues to push for a MLB promotion going 1-for-3 with a walk, raising his OPS on the season to .854.
Canaan Smith-Njigba started in left field, going 2-for-4 with his 11th double of the season. This gives Smith-Njigba a 28 game on base streak. Right fielder Bligh Madris and catcher Carter Bins each went 1-for-4 in the loss.
