It’s time to recap the performance of Pittsburgh Pirates minor league teams from Tuesday night

Following a 2-1 walk off loss against the Omaha Storm Chasers the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians are now 24-24 on the season. The top farm club of the Pittsburgh Pirates saw Canaan Smith-Njigba bat lead off while serving as their designated hitter. Smith-Njigba was 1-for-5. Two-hole hitter Travis Swaggerty was 2-for-3 with his 4th double of the season, 2 walks and a RBI.

This capped off a strong month of May for both Smith-Njigba and Swaggerty. Both players have put themselves in position for a potential promotion to the major leagues later this summer following a strong May.

Ji-Hwan Bae had a rare hitless night going 0-for-4 with a walk, but he still has an .866 OPS on the season. Mason Martin was 1-for-5, but, like Bae, continues to push for a MLB promotion with his .870 OPS.

Veteran righty Jerad Eickoff start for the Indians, allowing a hit, issuing a walk, and striking out 3 in 5 scoreless innings pitched. Cam Vieaux allowed a solo home run while striking out a pair in 2 innings pitched. Austin Brice pitched 1.2 innings, but his night ended when he allowed a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
