Double-A Altoona also suffers a 1-run loss

Triple-A Indy was not the only team in the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system to suffer a 1-run loss on Tuesday night. The Double-A Altoona Curve suffered a similar fate, following to 22-24 on the season wit ha 5-4 loss against the Bowie Baysox.

Carmen Mlodzinksi started for the Curve and had been pitching well in May. Well, Mlodzinski ran into trouble in the loss allowing 5 runs on 9 hits, 2 walks and just 2 strikeouts in 4 innings pitched. Mlodzinski now owns a 5.13 ERA in 33.1 innings across 9 starts this season.

Bear Bellomy followed Mlodzinski, allowing just a single hit in 3 scoreless innings pitched. However, Bellomy failed to record a strikeout. Noe Toribio lowered his ERA on the season to 1.80 with a scoreless 8th inning. Making his Double-A debut 2021 draft pick Tyler Samaniego struck a batter out in a 1-2-3 inning.

Offensively, lead off man Jared Triolo led the way for the Curve offense. Starting at third base Triolo was 2-for-4 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Nick Gonzales started at second base going 0-for-2 with a walk before being replaced by Andres Alvarez who was also 0-for-2. There was no update on any potential Gonzales injury after the game.

Shortstop Liover Peguero, catcher Blake Sabol and outfielder Matt Gorski have been three of the best hitters in the Pirate farm system this season, but they went a combined 0-for-12 with a walk by Gorski in the loss.
