Grasshoppers get shutout on Tuesday night
The High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Greensboro Grasshoppers, were shutout by the Wilmington Blue Rocks 5-0 on Tuesday night. With the loss the Grasshoppers fell to 20-25 on the season.
Sean Sullivan started for the Grasshoppers and turned in an odd start. He allowed 4 runs on just 4 hits and no walks in 5 innings pitched. Sullivan also struck out 11 batters. However, he allowed a pair of home runs which were his undoing.
Nick Dombkowski followed Sullivan and continued his strong start to the season. Dombkowski allowed a hit and struck a batter out in 1.2 innings pitched. He now has a 1.88 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 24 innings pitched this season. Jack Carey followed, allowing a solo home run in 2.1 innings pitched.
At the plate Dariel Lopez was 1-for-4 for the Grasshoppers. Endy Rodriguez and Jacob Gonzalez were both 1-for-4, while designated hitter Fabricio Marcias was 2-for-4. Maikol Escotto was 1-for-4 with his 2nd triple of the season.
