Another loss for Bradenton
The struggles of the Low-A Bradenton Marauders continued on Tuesday night. Following a 4-2 loss against the Clearwater Threshers, the Marauders have now fallen to just 23-29 on the season.
Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, 25-year-old righty Aaron Shortridge started for the Marauders on Tuesday night and pitched 3 scoreless innings. Shortridge allowed 3 hits, did not walk a batter and recorded a strikeout.
Shortridge was a 4th round selection by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2018 MLB Draft. Prior to Tuesday night he had not pitched since logging 135.2 innings across 24 starts at the High-A level in 2019. Just getting Shortridge onto the mound was a huge step in the right direction, the fact he pitched 3 scoreless innings was gravy.
Valentin Linarez followed Shortridge, and allowed a run on 3 hits, 2 walks and 5 strikeouts in 4 innings pitched. Jack Hartman was next up and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, a walk and a home run while recording just two outs. On the season, Hartman has now allowed 3 runs and 2 home runs in just 3.2 innings pitched.
No Marauder batters had a multi-hit night. Rodolfo Nolasco was 1-for-4 with a triple and a RBI. Jase Bowen was also 1-for-4 with a RBI. Luke Brown was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored, while Sergio Campana was 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored at the top of the lineup.
