Pittsburgh Pirates Single-A affiliates go 0-2

The High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers fell to 23-32 on the season after suffering a 7-3 loss against the Winston-Salem Dash. As one may expect when a team allows 7 runs, it was a rough night for the Greensboro pitching staff.

Sean Sullivan started for the Grasshoppers, allowing 3 runs on a home run, 7 hits, a walk and 6 strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched. Michell Miliano followed, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks in 1 inning pitched. Eddy Yean pitched the final 2.2 innings of the game, allowing a run on 4 hits no walks and 3 strikeouts.

Sammy Siani was 1-for-4 and Dariel Lopez was 2-for-4 with a RBI. Both Siani and Lopez scored a run. Abrahan Gutierrez was 0-for-3 with a walk, Jacob Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with his 4th double at High-A, and Endy Rodriguez, who started at second base, and Jackson Glenn each had a hit as well.

It was a closer loss for the Low-A Bradenton Marauders who fell to 25-31 on the season with a 2-0 loss against the Clearwater Threshers. Bradenton was limited to just a pair of hits, singles by first baseman Brenden Dixon and designated hitter Sergio Campana. Dixon also drew a walk and left fielder Angel Basabe drew a pair of walks. That was it for Marauder base runners.

Carlos Jimenez started for the Marauders, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, a home run, a walk and 2 strikeouts in 4 innings pitched. Jimenez now has a 3.34 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched this season.

Darvin Garcia struck out 3 batters in 2 scoreless innings pitched, while Johan Montero struck out 3 in a scoreless 7th inning. Cristian Charle had a strikeout in scoreless 8th inning, Jack Hartman and Denny Roman combined to strikeout a pair while getting the 3 outs in the 9th inning.
