
An interesting night for the Single-A affiliates of the Pittsburgh Pirates
The High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Greensboro Grasshoppers, had their game canceled on Thursday night. This cancellation was due to a power outage. They will now play a doubleheader on Friday.
At the Low-A level the Bradenton Marauders improved to 27-33 on the season with a 12-8 victory over the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. Anthony Solometo started for the Marauders, making his 3rd start and 4th appearance since being promoted to Low-A.
Solometo turned in his worst outing as a member of the Marauders, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts in just 2 innings pitched. However, the 19-year-old has a 2.08 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched with Bradenton.
Mitchell Miller followed Solometo, allowing 3 runs on a hit and 2 walks in his inning pitched. Sergio Umana then allowed a run on 2 hits, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 2.2 innings pitched. Wilkin Ramos struck out 4 batters while issuing a walk in 1.1 innings pitched, and Yunior Thibo finished things off allowing 2 runs while striking out 3 in 2 innings pitched.
Leadoff man Tsung-Che Cheng continued his struggles, going 0-for-6 with 4 strikeouts. Jase Bowen was 2-for-3 with 2 walks, a RBI and 2 runs scored. Sergio Campana was 1-for-5 with a walk, RBI and 2 runs scored.
First baseman Brenden Dixon was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Rodolfo Nolasco was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a walk. Mike Jarvis hit his 2nd home run of the season and left fielder Angel Basabe was 3-for-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
