
Double-A Altoona rolls to a blowout victory
The Pittsburgh Pirates Double-A affiliate, the Altoona Curve, rolled over the Erie SeaWolves by a score of 14-3 on Friday night. With the victory the Curve have improved to 30-31 on the season to pull back within a game of .500.
Outfielder Matt Gorski continued his phenomenal season going 3-for-4 with a walk, his 4th Double-A home run, 4th double and 4 RBI. Gorski now has a .909 OPS with the Curve, and a combined 21 home runs between High-A and Double-A. Gorski has been one of the best power hitters in all of minor league baseball this season.
Lolo Sanchez also went yard for the Curve. Sanchez was 2-for-5 with his 4th home run of the season and 2 runs scored. Utility man Aaron Shackelford started at second base, hitting a pair of home runs and deriving in 5 runs. Following his multi-home run performance, Shackelford now has 11 home runs on the season.
Matt Fraizer played in left feudal and bat leadoff, going 2-for-5 with his 12th double of the season, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Jared Triolo had a hit, a walk and 2 RBI, and center fielder Connor Scott also had a multi-hit performance while scoring 2 runs.
On the pitching side of things, Carmen Mlodzinski started for the Curve but failed to get out of the 1st inning. Before his night ended Mlodzinski allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, a walk, a home run and 2 strikeouts.
Travis MacGregor followed and continued his strong season. MacGregor allowed 2 hits, walked a batter and struck out 5 in 3.1 scoreless innings pitched. Tyler Samaniegoniego pitched a scoreless 5th inning, and Nick Dombkowski closed things out allowing a run on 3 hits and 5 strikeouts in 4 innings pitched.
