The Pittsburgh Pirates are making some waves in the news by calling up more of their young prospects. Who else is coming up?
The Pittsburgh Pirates have made a ton of different roster moves since the beginning of the year. Some of the moves were out of necessity while others were due to players performing well. Fans have “patiently” waited for Oneil Cruz to be recalled, and as of Sunday afternoon, he will be joining the Big League Club.
However, it also looks like the team will be rewarding a player who has been performing well in the minors. According to Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic first base/outfield prospect, Bligh Madris will be joining the Pittsburgh Pirates roster tomorrow. Madris is a prospect who has really worked his way up the minor-league ladder.
It will be interesting to see what roster moves will be made tomorrow. The Bucs will likely send Liover Peguero down and a relief pitcher. Teams will no longer be able to carry 14 pitchers on the roster and instead 13. Even with that, the Pittsburgh Pirates will need to DFA a player off the 40-man roster to add Madris.
Madris has spent 46 games with Triple-A Indianapolis. Over those 46 games, he has batted .304/.318/.519 with 5 home runs. June has been so impressive for the left-handed Madris, he has hit .400 with 2 home runs.
Madris could add some left-handed power to the Pittsburgh Pirates lineup. Jack Suwinski has shown the advantage left-handed power hitters can have at PNC Park. Both Cruz and Madris are capable of peppering the Clemente Wall.
It is exciting to see these players finally joining the Big League Club. Both players are very deserving. Madris has been on a tear recently and Oneil Cruz is one of the top prospects in Baseball. Make sure to tune in Monday for a big night of Baseball.
