Pittsburgh Pirates Minors: Three Rehab Stints Begin & More

Highlighting Tuesday night’s action among Pittsburgh Pirates minor league teams was three players currently on the injured list beginning their rehab stints

The Pittsburgh Pirates are closer to getting healthy. Tuesday night three Pirate players currently on the injured list started a rehab stint with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians, contributing to a 7-4 Indian victory that improved the team to 33-32 on the season.

Josh VanMeter bat leadoff for the Indy, going 1-for-2 with a pair of walks 2 runs scored and a RBI. Kevin Newman was at shortstop, going 1-for-2 with a double and a RBI, and first baseman Yoshi Tsutsugo was 0-for-1 with a walk.

Mason Martin replaced Tsutsugo at first base, going 0-for-1 with a pair of walks and a run scored. Rodolfo Castro was 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI, designated hitter Carter Bins was 1-for-4 with a double and Ji-Hwan Bae was 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and 2 RBI. Travis Swaggerty also had a hit and drove in a run.

Bryse Wilson started for the Indians and turned in a terrific start. In 7.1 innings pitched he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, a home run, no walks and 10 strikeouts. Nick Mears continued to work his way back to the majors, allowing 2 runs on a home run and 2 walks in 1.1 innings pitched. Austin Brice then got the final out of the game for the Indians.
