The Pittsburgh Pirates capped off a 4-3 homestand by taking three of four from the Chicago Cubs

Even in a bad baseball season fans of teams can find fun moments. This week’s four-game series against the Chicago Cubs was one of those series/moments for fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates in what has been an otherwise poor 2022 season.

By taking three of four from the Cubs, the Pirates improved to 29-40 on the season. This also gave them an increased cushion on the now 26-44 Cubs as they battle for third place in the National League Central.

This series saw a little bit of everything from the Pirates. Young Bucs stepped up, there was strong starting pitching, a walk off win, and just about everything else in between.

With the series now in the rear view mirror, before we start to look ahead to this weekend’s series in Tampa Bay we will look back at what the Pittsburgh Pirates did against the Chicago Cubs. Let’s delve into and discuss some key takeaways from this past series.
