High-A Greensboro picks up a 5-4 victory

Following a 5-4 victory over former Pittsburgh Pirates minor affiliate the Hickory Crawdads, the Greensboro Grasshoppers are now 29-40 on the season. Justin Meis started for the Grasshoppers and turned in his second consecutive strong start. Meis allowed a run on 2 hits, 4 walks and 5 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched.

Denny Roman followed Meis and things did not go well. Roman faced 4 batters, allowing 3 hits and walking a batter. This led to Roman allowing 3 runs without recording an out. Jack Carey would pick Roman up while stepping for the Grasshoppers, pitching 3 scoreless innings with a strikeout. Oliver Mateo struck out the side in a scoreless 9th inning, picking up his 2nd save of the season.

Outfielder Fabricio Macias led the way for the Grasshopper offense. Macias was 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, giving him 5 on the season, and 3 RBI. Endy Rodriguez started at catcher going 1-for-4 with his 14th double of the season, improving his OPS on the season to .784.

Abrahan Gutierrez started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored. The lone hit for Gutierrez was his 5th home run of the season. Third baseman Dariel Lopez and left fielder Sammy Siani also had a hit.
