Extra innings victory for High-A Greensboro
The High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers improved to 30-40 on the season with a 6-4 victory over the Hickory Crawdads. This victory came in 10 innings, with the Grasshoppers scoring a pair of runs in the 10th.
With one out in the 10th inning Jackson Glenn hit his 6th double of the season. This was followed by the 15th double of the season form Endy Rodriguez. Each of these doubles plated a run to give the Grasshoppers a 6-4 lead.
After pitching a scoreless 9th inning, Eddy Yean returned to the mound in the bottom of the 10th. Yean walked a batter, but got a strikeout and a double play ball to end the game. Yean allowed a hit, walked a batter and struck out 3 in his 2 scoreless innings pitched.
Nick Garcia started for the Grasshoppers, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched. He now has a 3.30 ERA in 62.2 innings pitched this season across 14 outings, 12 of which have been starts.
Righty Wandi Montout followed Garcia. Montout allowed a run on a hit, a pair of walks and a strikeout in the 6th inning. Ricky DeVito then pitched 2 scoreless innings out of the Grasshopper bullpen, issuing a walk, allowing a hit and striking out a pair.
In addition to his 10th inning double, Glenn also hit a triple. This was part of a 4-for-5 performance by Glenn. Catcher Abrahan Gutierrez was 3-for-5 while driving in a run, and first baseman Ernny Ordonez was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a RBI, and 3 runs scored.
