The Rum Bunter Radio crew is here to preview the Pittsburgh Pirates having the no. 4 overall pick in the MLB Draft and more!

Rum Bunter’s 2022 MLB Draft Special gets you geared up for the selection day! The reign of Ben Cherington reaches draft number three, and this year the Pittsburgh Pirates set their sights on the fourth pick.

Who will the buccos select at number four? To begin to answer this question you have to consider who will be around for the Pirates to take at that slot. In 2021 Pittsburgh’s number one overall pick went to Henry Davis, a player they knew they could secure well “underslot”.

This move allowed the club to sign four out of the top fifty draft prospects on the board, continuing to boost the status of their farm system.

But as we take an even further look back to 2020 we saw the Pirates select a wealth of college talent and try to add bulk pitching talent of athletic players.

What will 2022 have in store? Pittsburgh will select at number thirty six in the competitive balance round, following their first round pick.

This pick is interesting for several reasons. First and foremost, who will slide out of the first round and into the hands of Cherington. And secondly will they be willing to meet the slot value, and take a chance of a potential prep pitcher with this selection?

This discussion allows for an update on Kumar Rocker and his potential for this year’s draft show. Is there a world where the Pirates make an attempt at the former number one draft prospect?

As the show begins to close it does so with the forty fourth overall pick. If the Pirates draft aggressively in the first three picks, what will they do with their third round selection?

Predicting has finally come to its final day. The 2022 MLB First Year Player Draft is here and Rum Bunter Radio has you covered with everything you need to know to be ready for this year’s show!
