The Pittsburgh Pirates have one of the better rental outfielders on the trade market in veteran Ben Gamel. Which teams could matchup with the Pirates for a potential Gamel trade?

Over the course of the next five days the Pittsburgh Pirates could be busy on the trade market. With the August 2nd trade deadline looming, the Pirates have multiple veteran pieces that could intrigue contending teams looking to add to their roster.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have already made one big move this month when they traded Daniel Vogelbach to the New York Mets in exchange for reliever Colin Holderman. However, it is highly unlikely that this will be Ben Cherington’s last move before the trade deadline.

One Pirate player who is almost assured to be traded is outfielder Ben Gamel. The veteran is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and it is likely the Pirates would rather get something in return for Gamel now instead of just letting him walk in the offseason.

Plus, Gamel should have some decent trade value. The veteran has postseason experience, which teams will value, he can play all three outfield positions, and he is having a strong offensvie season. Gamel has hit for a .245/.336/.375 slash line to go with a 11.8% walk rate, 104 wRC+ and a 102 OPS+ in 229 plate appearances this season.

So, which teams could be interested in Gamel and matchup well with the Pittsburgh Pirates in any potential trade? We will take a look at that today.
