High-A Greensboro falls to Jersey Shore for the second time in as many nights

The High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers were defeated by the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 4-1. This was the second loss in as many nights for the Grasshoppers against the BlueClaws, as Greensboro fell to 44-58 on the season.

In the loss, center fielder Hudson Head was 1-for-4 with his 15th double of the season while catcher Eli Wilson was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Designated hitter Abrahan Gutierrez accounted for the lone Grasshopper run, going 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Gutierrez now has 11 home runs and a .785 OPS this season.

Second baseman Claudio Finol was 1-for-3 with his 2nd High-A double. First baseman Jacob Gonzalez was 0-for-3 but drew a walk. The only other Grasshopper base runner was Francisco Acuna who had a single.

Jared Jones started for the Grasshoppers and allowed 3 runs on four hits, no walks, a home run and five strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched. This continued the season long struggles of Jones who now owns a 5.08 ERA in 101 innings pitched across 21 starts this season.

Domingo Gonzalez followed Jones. Coming out of the Grasshopper bullpen, Gonzalez did not allow a hit, walked a batter and struck out five in 3.2 innings pitched. Cristian Charle pitched the 8th inning, allowing a run on a walk and two hits.
