Quinn Priester dazzles once again

Saturday night the Double-A Altoona Curve rolled past the Akron RubberDucks 7-1. Altoona’s victory was sparked by another dominant start from arguably the Pittsburgh Pirates top pitching prospect, as well as plenty of offense. The win improved the Curve to 62-62 on the season.

Quinn Priester started for Altoona and continued to dominate Double-A batters. In 6 innings pitched Priester allowed a run on three hits, a walk and four strikeouts. Priester now owns a 2.37 ERA to go with 65 strikeouts in 64.1 innings pitched in 13 starts for Altoona this season.

Enmanuel Mejia followed Priester and pitched 2 innings. Mejia did not allow a hit or a run, while walking a batter and striking out 3. Austin Roberts then walked a batter and struck out two in a scoreless inning pitched.

Liover Peguero had a much needed big game going 4-for-5 at the top of the Curve lineup with two runs scored and two RBI. Nick Gonzales was 1-for-3 with two walks, his 6th home run of the season and two RBI, improving his OPS on the season to .798.

Aaron Shackelford and Lolo Sanchez were both 2-for-4, each of them scored a run and Sanchez drove in a run. Connor Scott was 1-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.
