Pittsburgh Pirates Prospects: Quinn Priester Continues to Dominate & More

Greensboro walks-off Winston-Salem in extra innings

It took extra innings, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers were able to earn a victory on Saturday night. Following a 3-2 walk-off victory in 10 innings over the Winston-Salem Dash, the High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates are ow 56-66 on the season.

Jared Jones started for the Grasshoppers. Jones allowed 2 runs on three hits, a walk and seven strikeouts in 4 innings pitched. It has not been the season Jones was looking for, owning a 4.63 ERA in 118.2 innings pitched across 25 starts. However, he has still flashed his plus stuff racking up 139 strikeouts and easily remains a top 15 prospect in the system.

Cristian Charle followed Jones, walking a batter and striking out a pair in 2 scoreless, hitless innings pitched. Eddy Yean also pitched 2 innings of no-hit scoreless ball. Yean walked a batter and struck out three. Cam Junker then joined the 2 innings of no-hit scoreless ball club, while walking a batter and striking out four.

It did not take the Grasshopper long to walk it off in the bottom of the 10th inning. With Eli Wilson on second base as the extra innings runner, Ernny Ordonez laid down a sacrifice bunt. Jackson Glenn then doubled Wilson home to give the Grasshoppers a 3-2 lead.

Left fielder Jase Bowen finished the game 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and a RBI. Wilson had a hit, driving in a run and scoring a run. Hudson Head went 1-for-4 and shortstop Mike Jarvis finished the night 1-for-3.
