The Pittsburgh Pirates graduated a couple of their top 100 prospects from their farm system this season. The good news is that they have more to come.

There has been a big push by fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates for catching prospect Endy Rodriguez to get the recognition he deserves.  Rodriguez is in the midst of a breakout campaign and while he was ranked as a Top 10 prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates system, he was not on any Top 100 lists to start the year.  This was not super surprising, but he has done nothing but produce so far this year.

Baseball America is finally giving Endy Rodriguez the credit he deserves.  The switch-hitting prospect is ranked at #100 on Baseball Americas’ most recent update.  The update came out earlier this week.

Rodriguez is having a monster year so far.  He started off at High-A Greensboro but has been with Double-A Altoona for the last month or so.  At High-A Rodriguez posted an impressive slash line of .302/.392/.544 with 16 home runs in 88 games.  He has been just as good with the Altoona Curve.  So far through 22 games with Curve, Rodriguez is batting .361/.455/.771 with 8 home runs already.  He is batting an outstanding .314 on the year with 24 home runs in just over 100 games played.

Who knows, Endy may be ranked even higher heading into 2023.  The Pittsburgh Pirates had 5 other prospects show up on Baseball Americas’ Top 100.  Termarr Johnson, the team’s 2022 first-round pick, is ranked at #44.  Right-handed pitching prospect Quinn Priester is next up on the list at #64.

Two infielders make up the next two spots for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Liover Peguero comes in ranked at #76 while Henry Davis occupies the 80th ranked spot.  The last prospect to mention is also a new addition to the Top 100 lists.  Right-handed pitcher Michael Burrows has put up really impressive numbers over the last two years and has seen his “stuff” progress as well.  His rank is #98, but it is good to see the Pittsburgh Pirates land another pitcher on the list.
