The Rum Bunter Radio crew is back to discuss the 2022 Pittsburgh Pirates season grinding to an end, the addition of Miguel Andújar and more

The 2022 season is coming to a rapid end and for the greater good of Pirate baseball at this place in time, that’s the best news Pittsburgh Pirates fans can hear. Another 100 loss season, another year of roster manipulation, and unfortunately another year of light progress if that’s even what you can call it at this point.

Although the clock has not run out on 2022 just quite yet. Miguel Andújar a long-time rumored Pirate, finally has a deal in Pittsburgh. The club claiming Andújar off of waivers is a relatively risk free move. For Pirate fans this headline is something to get excited about, and with a guaranteed year in 2022, Miguel Andujar is a player that could start regularly for a good portion of the year.

This news did come at a price, as roster movement had to be made. Micheal Chavis, who had been one of the more exciting players to get behind the past year and half is sent to waivers in accordance. Now Pirates fans sit back and wait to see if Chavis clears, giving the two parties a potential for one more year of Micahel Chavis.

If there was one worry heading into the final month of the season for Pittsburgh, it’s likely that is has to do with the future of Pittsburgh’s arms. Mitch Keller is one name Pirate fans have not had to every think about this final month, and most of 2022.

With a confident looking Keller, and talent young arms like Michael Burrows and Quinn Priester on the brink of big league success next season, who will the Pittsburgh Pirates name as the five to start next year.
