The Pittsburgh Pirates will see two of their top-hitting prospects participate in the Arizona Fall League All-Star game.  This is great to see for a lot of different reasons.

The Arizona Fall League is one of if not the most competitive Leagues in terms of prospect talent each year.  Players from all different levels participate, mainly ones who have a Big League trajectory.  The Pittsburgh Pirates have some of their more promising prospects participating in the League.

The team’s first-round picks from the 2021 and the 2022 Drafts are participating out West.  Both Henry Davis and Nick Gonzales are having strong showings up to this point.  In fact, both were named to the Arizona Fall League All-Star game.  Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette tweeted earlier today:

Obviously, this is a big deal for these two players.  To be recognized as two of the best hitters with so many other good prospects says a lot about their potential.  The game is typically aired on MLB Network so watch out for that coming up.  It is a weekend event.

Both Gonzales and Davis have put up pedestrian batting averages.  Gonzales is hitting just .238 while Davis is hitting .271.  The big thing is they are performing in terms of the OPS category.  Henry Davis has an OPS of .889 with 7 extra-base hits in 16 games.  Gonzales is leveraging a .779 OPS but is slugging an impressive .460. He also has 7 extra-base hits. The two players for the Suprise Saguaros.

The Fall League All-Star game will take place this weekend over the 5th and the 6th.  Hopefully, Davis and Gonzales make an impact in the game.  Either way, it is pretty cool to see both former first-round picks get nods to the prestigious game. Both are expected to be crucial parts of the Pittsburgh Pirates success going forward hopefully they show why.
