Reports have come out that Bryan Reynolds has requested a trade from the Pittsburgh Pirates. With the winter meetings starting up this weekend, there could be a lot of teams asking about the star outfielder. One team that comes to mind is the New York Yankees. Here is a trade proposal that should interest the organization if offered.

Bryan Reynolds to the New York Yankees

Bryan Reynolds is clearly unhappy with how things are going with the Pittsburgh Pirates. It is apparent he has not been offered an extension he wants or feels he deserves. He also has not seen the team progress since joining the major league club back in 2019.

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on Saturday that Reynolds has now requested a trade from the Pirates. The winter meetings are on the horizon and with a lot of teams that are in need of a quality star outfielder, things could start heating up very soon.

I believe one of the teams that will be in touch with Ben Cherington this upcoming week is the New York Yankees. Here is a trade the Pittsburgh Pirates should consider if offered to them.

Since the Pirates have no desire to trade Reynolds, it will take a massive haul to acquire for him.  This is the type of offer it will take for him to get traded this offseason.

The first player that the Yankees need to offer is their star switch-hitting prospect, Jasson Dominguez. He is currently their no. 2 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. He is just 20 years of age, but has shown a lot of promise so far in his minor league career.

In 2022, Dominguez started the season out in Low-A ball before getting up called up to High-A where he performed extremely well. He slashed .306/.397/.507 in 40 games before getting up called up to Double-A for a short stint to end the season. He would help out the lack of depth the Pirates have in the outfield if part of the deal.

Another prospect that should be offered to the Pirates is the Yankees no. 7 prospect, Spencer Jones. Jones was the Yankees 1st round pick in 2022. He is a left-handed power bat that plays the corner outfield. He is 6’7″ and weighs 225 pounds. He played in 25 games last season where he slashed .344/.425/.538 with 4 home runs and 6 doubles. PNC Park would be the perfect spot for him in the future if traded here because of the raw power he brings to the plate.

The next two prospects are two MLB ready pitchers in Yoendrys Gomez and Randy Vasquez. Gomez and Vasquez are both ranked in the top 15 in the Yankee system  according to MLB Pipeline, and are projected to make the big leagues in 2023.

Both have high velocity fastballs which is one of the reasons why they both are intriguing. Gomez finished last season with a 2.49 ERA in 15 starts. He struck out 49 batters and only allowed 1 home run in 47.0 innings pitched. He could be a guy that could be potentially make the Pirates rotation sometime in 2023 if traded for.

Vasquez also had a great year in 2022. His best pitch is his curveball that gets over 3100 rpms consistently, mixed in with his fastball that can touch 98 MPH. He finished the season with a 3.90 ERA in 25 starts striking out 120 batters in Double-A. He is projected to make the major leagues this year and could be a very impactful pitcher in the bullpen.

These four players would be a great haul for Reynolds if they are willing to trade him this offseason. Winter meetings will give all of the fans a better idea on what the Pittsburgh Pirates plan on doing with the star outfielder.
