All things considered, the Pittsburgh Pirates are playing pretty well at the moment. They have won six of their last 10 games and just dominated the Mets for a three game sweep that may have broken their spirit completely. The hope was that the Pirates could carry that momentum into their matchup with the division rival Cardinals on Monday, but rough weather in the area put those plans on pause.
When the game does start, it will feature Andrew Heaney, a key trade deadline piece, going for the Pirates taking on Erick Fedde who is having a bit of a down year in 2025 thanks to some issues with finding the strike zone. We will have to wait for a bit to see this matchup as we are officially in a rain delay.
Rain Delay Update: 7:10 PM EST
It looks like the weather is behaving as expected and we are in store for a rain delay of just a little over an hour. The Pirates just announced that assuming the forecast holds, this game will start at around 7:50 PM EST.

Pirates vs. Cardinals Rain Delay, 6/30/25: When will the game start?
The weather system causing issues is moving off to the east and while it is definitely slow moving, the weather does seem to clear up relatively soon. A quick look at the radar does show a bit of a coin flip for the next hour or so as to whether the rain will pass by the stadium, but the odds go up a good bit after that. Unless there is a pretty significant change in the forecast (which could happen as there is just a lot of wet weather around everywhere), we are going to get some Pirates baseball tonight.
We will update this article with any information as it becomes available including when the game is expected to start as well as any changes that become available. There is no guarantees when it comes to weather, but you can probably safely bet on a delay of no more than an hour unless this system grows unexpectedly or comes to a screeching halt.
