Fresh off a convincing 7-1 win over the Guardians earlier in the day, the Pittsburgh Pirates have to be feeling good heading into the second half of their doubleheader on Saturday. The offense looks downright scary even with the injuries the lineup is dealing with and they are sending Mason Montgomery up against a Cleveland lineup that isn't exactly fearsome at the moment. Unfortunately, the weather is once again causing problems.
The reason why there was a doubleheader today was due to smoke from wildfires in Canada causing havoc across the region. While the first half of the twin bill went by without a hitch, Mother Nature has another trick up her sleeve for the nightcap as rain in the Cleveland area has forced this game into a rain delay already.
**UPDATE: 8:08 PM EST**
Okay, this is just getting comical now. Clearly the weather is behaving in ways that officials and meteorologists did not expect. After TWO different false starts, the current estimate for when this Pirates game will get start now sits at 8:25 PM EST.
Pirates-Guardians now expected to start at 8:25pm ET Saturday.

Pirates vs. Guardians Rain Delay, 7/18/26: So when will this game start?
There IS a lot of weather making the rounds on Saturday, and we have already seen other MLB games have their start times impacted. However, the storms that are moving through are also not huge and very scattered, as is customary this time of year with these afternoon/evening storms. The current forcecast has the rain moving out around 8 PM EST, so that is a pretty safe bet as to how long this delay should last.
We will keep this post updated with any information that is made available from official sources about the delay, including when an estimated start time is revealed. Sit back, relax, and get caught up on the goings on around the world, because we should be watching Pirates baseball this evening before too long.
