The Pittsburgh Pirates need a good weekend this weekend. Not only have they lost five straight, but they are up against the division rival Reds. If the Pirates can hold their own and win the series, they will be right back in the thick of things. Unfortunately, we have to wait to find out if they can get back on track.

All week, there have been storms rolling through the country off and on. Several games were postponed and there were a few delays, but the hope was that Friday would offer a bit of a reprieve. Unfortunately, that is not the case and we are officially in a rain delay.

**UPDATE: 7:34 PM EST**

See, that wasn't too bad. The rain is already moving away and the powers that be feel comfortable projected a start time. Assuming that the forecast remains as expected and the field is good shape, the Pirates and Reds will begin playing at 8:15 PM EST.

Pirates vs. Reds, 5/1/26: When will the game start?

Despite how much rain we have seen off and on this week, this isn't a delay that should take too terribly long. Most of the forecasts show things clearing up in the Pittsburgh area after around an hour. We'll have to make sure the field is in playable shape and there is always a chance of a lingering shower, but it would not be shocking at all if we were watching baseball by 8 PM EST or so.

We will keep this post updated during the course of the delay as information regarding the forecast and an estimated start time are made available for public consumption. In short, don't change your evening plans if you were planning on watching from home and sit tight if you are at the game in person. The wait shouldn't be too bad unless the weather man is lying.
