Dick Mountain is now a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates!

More veteran help is on the way for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and not just in the form of Rich Hill. Although the 42-year-old may be the headliner of the week. As the show begins Marty and Trey dive in on a discussion about the past weeks’ signing of Rich Hill. Where does Hill slide into a rotation he would’ve statistically ranked second in last season?

While this question may not have an answer at the moment, adding major league proven arms is only a positive sign for a team looking to avoid their third straight 100 loss season. Not only will Hill join the 2023 Pirates, but Jarlín García to Pittsburgh was made official as well this past week.

After agreeing to terms to at the Winter Meeting in early December Pirate fans were wondering why the move hadn’t been made official until weeks later for García. Pittsburgh after several weeks and the holiday season has made the move official furthering a bullpen in desperate need of quality arms.

As the episode continues the conversation shifts to other noteworthy moves the Pirates engaged in over the past few weeks. Connor Joe is coming home. In a move that seems questionable, at least in the foresight for the Colorado Rockies, the Pirates get former draft pick Connor Joe, who the club will look to platoon in the outfield.

The guys go back and forth on what the 2023 outfield will look like, at the beginning of the season if nothing else, and who they project to emerge within the organization.

The episode comes to a close with further winter predictions and a discussion on why the Pirates front office is beginning to buy and buy in to start 2023.
