Liover Peguero continues to impress
When Liover Peguero was promoted to the majors earlier this month he started 0-for-10 with 8 strikeouts. Undoubtedly an ugly start in Peguero's return to the majors and his first opportunity to get a long look at the major league level.
Since this poor start Peguero has been one of the team's best hitters. This hot stretch of play by Peguero continued into the Detroit series. Very quickly, Peguero has hit his way into being in the lineup every day.
In Tuesday night's series opening victory Peguero was 1-for-3. This one hit was a 2-run home run, his 3rd of the season. This home run came in the bottom of the 2nd inning, extending the Pirate lead to 3-0. After that home run, the Pirates never looked back and were never threatened in a 4-1 victory.
For some reason, Peguero didn't start in Wednesday afternoon's loss. He entered in the late innings defensively, but did not get an at-bat.
