Pittsburgh Pirates outfield prospect Enmanuel Terrero continues to impress and turn heads in the team's minor league system
Prospects bursting onto the scene is nothing new in baseball. It is something that happens with regularity. For the Pittsburgh Pirates, there is an outfield prospect who has spent the past two seasons doing just that.
This outfield prospect is Enmanuel Terrero. The 21-year-old, left-handed hitting Terrero is coming off back-to-back strong seasons in the Pirate farm system. With these two strong seasons, Terrero is starting to look like one of the best outfield prospects in the Pirate farm system.
Spending the 2022 season in the Florida complex League, Terrero had a strong season. He hit for a .330/.446/.443 slash line with a 153 wRC+, 17.7% walk rate, and a 13.1% strikeout rate in the FCL in 2022. While these numbers were never going to be sustainable, Terrero still put together a strong 2023 season.
Terrero spent the entire 2023 season with the Low-A Bradenton Marauders. This was his first time playing for a full season affiliate in the Pirate farm system. Terrero would go on to have a strong season with the Marauders.
In 80 games played with the Marauders last season Terrero had 361 plate appearances. Terrero hit for a .266/.368/.409 slash line with a 116 wRC+ in his 361 PAs. While he struck out at a 25.8% rate, his 13.0% walk rate was very strong.
Terrero hit 8 home runs, while also collecting 8 doubles wiht 6 triples. This resulted in an isolated slugging (ISO) .143. Flashing his athleticism, Terrero stole 21 bases while also being a plus defender in center field.
Looking ahead to 2024, Terrero will look to coninue to emerge as one of the top outfield prospects in the Pirate farm system. He will likely be ticketed for High-A Greensboro. Terrero is certainly a player that Pirate fans should keep an eye on in 2024.
