A five hit night for Ernny Ordonez, another multi-hit game for Liover Peguero, and more Thursday night action from the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system

The top farm club of the Pittsburgh Pirates had a poor offensive showing on Thursday night loss. In a 4-1 loss against the Toledo Mud Hens, the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians left 11 runners on base, picked up just five base hits, and went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The loss drops the Indians to 25-28 on the season.

In a bullpen game, Cam Alldred allowed a run on three hits, he walked three, and did not strike a batter out in 4 innings pitched. John O'Reilly allowed a run on three hits and two strikeouts in 2.2 innings pitched.

Angel Perdomo pitched 1.1 innings and struck out four batters. However, he allowed a hit, issued a walk, and was charged with 2 runs. Yerry De Los Santos allowed a hit and struck out a pair in a scoreless 9th inning.

Nick Gonzales went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Playing first base, Endy Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with a walk, Jared Triolo was 1-for-4 with a walk and a RBI, and Canaan Smith-Njigba was 1-for-4 with a double.

Ryan Vialde was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Aaron Shackelford had a base hit and catcher Grant Koch drew a walk for the Indians.

Double-A Altoona survives late offensive surge for victory

It took hanging on in the late innings, but the Altoona Curve defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 9-8 on Thursday night. With the win, the Curve are now 24-22 on the season.

Cam Junker and Braeden Ogle each pitched an inning of relief late in the game for Altoona. They each allowed a hit, with Junker issuing a walk while allowing two hits and Ogle walked four. Juan Mianya was then able to get the final out of the game on a lineout with the bases loaded for the Curve to hang on.

Matt Eckelman worked as an opener for the Curve allowing 3 runs on four hits and three walks in 1.2 innings pitched. Travis MacGregor then pitched 2.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on three hits, walk, a pair of home runs, and five strikeouts. Omar Cruz ptiched 2/3 of an inning, walking a pair and picking up a strikeout along the way.

At the top of the lineup Liover Peguero had a big gmae going 2-for-4 with two walks and a pair of RBI. The middle infield prospect is hitting for a .256/.337/.403 slash line in 199 plate appearances this season.

Matt Fraizer had just one hit, but drove in five runs. Henry Davis was 1-for-4 with a walk while starting at catcher, Matt Gorski was 0-for-3 with a walk and a RBI, and Connor Scott was 2-for-5 with two runs scord. Jacob Gonzalez hit a double, drew a walk, and scored two runs.

High-A Greensboro blows out Winston Salem

The High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers imrpoved to 25-21 on the season with a 15-6 victory over the Winston Salem Dash on Thursday night. Greensboro's offense collected 15 hits, inlcuded 8 for extra bases, in the victory.

Shortstop Tsung-Che Cheng continues to do nothing but hit going 2-for-6 with a RBI and two runs scored. Center fielder Jase Bowen was 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple, two RBI, and three runs scored. Abrahan Gutierrez was 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, and four RBI.

The biggest hitter of the game for Greensboro, however, was third baseman Ernny Ordonez. Orodnez was 5-for-5 with his 2nd home run of the season, three doubles, three runs scored, and five RBI. Brenden Dixon hit a 2-run home run and Sammy Siani had a hit as well.

Bubba Chandler started for Greensboro and continued his season long struggles. Chandler lasted just 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on four hits, three walks, six strikeouts, and he hit a batter. With this outing, Chandler now owns a 6.63 ERA in 38 innings pitched this season.

Santiago Florez followed Chandler, allowing two solo home runs while walking a batter and striking out a pair in 2 innings pitched. Logan Hofmann struck a batter out in a 1-2-3 7th inning. Jake Stevenson struck out a pair in a 1-2-3 8th inning, Eddy Yean allowed a run while striking a batter out in the 9th inning.

Late inning offense surges Low-A Bradenton to victory

The offense started slow for the Bradneton Marauders on Thursday night. However, after scoring 1 run in the 6th, 7th, and 8th inning, their offense was able to then break the game wide open in the 9th inning. This led to a victory for the Low-A affiliate of the Pirates, to improve to 25-23 on the season.

Rodolfo Nolasco plated a run with a ground out in the 6th inning. A Nick Cimillo solo home run in the 7th inning tied the game at 2. Shalin Polanco, who just keeps hitting basbealls hard, singled in a run in the 7th inning to give the Marauders their first lead of the game at 3-2.

With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the 9th inning Jesus Castillo singled in a pair of runs, making the score 5-2 Marauders. After Termarr Johnson drew a walk to reload the bases, the third walk of the night for Johnson, Nolasco was hit by a pitch to make it 6-2. A Polanco sacrifice fly made it 7-2.

Wilber Dotel pitched 2.1 innings, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, on four hits, two walks, and three strikeouts. Carlos Lomeli struck out four batters and allowed just two hits in 2.2 scoreless innings pitched.

Luis Peralta walked a batter and allowed a hit, but struck a batter out in a scoreless 6th inning. Lefty Julian Bosnic then pitched 3 scoreless innings, allowing a walk and striking out three to go with a walk. Bosnic now owns a 2.14 ERA and a 14:27 BB:K ratio in 21 innings pitched this season.
